Novice Class Paintball
The novice division is
geared toward players who have some novice experience, but aren't quite
ready to compete in the amateur division. Novice players typically
have two to three years of tournament experience. A player is
qualified as a novice player if he has played in tournaments for no more
than three years, and has not competed on an amateur team. Amateur
players cannot move back to the novice classification once they've
competed as an amateur. A year is defined as a calendar year. After
three years of novice experience, all novice players must advance to
amateur status.
The centerpiece ICC
novice event is the ICC 5-man league. This league, the largest in
the ICC, gives novice players an opportunity to compete against novice
and amateur teams, while scoring the novice teams separately from the
amateur teams. A complete list of novice events can be found here. By
ICC rules, novice teams may have a maximum of one amateur player on the
team.
